Domaine du Château de Pizay

The "domaine" brings together the best wines of the Region. The whole production is made, matured and bottled at the Château. The wines are then aged in an open cellar.

Since the Middle age, the wines of Château de Pizay seduced the most demanding lovers of Beaujolais. Grown in the aristocracy of chosen crus, its noble decendants vinified in the respect of traditions are tasted worldwide. A thousand year of history... The configuration of the site is similar to Roman villa, likely event in view of the proximity of an ancient road. It was in 1030 that was mentioned for the first time the name of Pizay in charters of the Cluny abbey. In 1070, a wall is erected by the Lords of Pizay. In the 14th century, they build a solid dungeon and in the 18th century, the addition of a French garden enhanced the charm and sweetness of the domain. Among the most important Domaine Beaujolais, Château de Pizay extends over 80 ha of vineyard planted in several appellations. The whole production is vinified, grown and bottled on site.
