1765 route de moulin à vent
71570 Romanèche-Thorins
A 15th century ancient monument in its original state, the only one in the Beaujolais and Maconnais areas to have kept its great wooden beam attached to the roof for pointing the sails into the wind.
Its interior wooden mechanism is still in place, in particular the spinning wheel, brake and prison. Its round tower blends perfectly with the landscape, and its silhouette is an indisputable feature of the Beaujolais landscape.
The "Moulin à Vent" Cru owes its name to the three-hundred-year-old windmill that stands in the heart of the vineyards (10m high - 5.5m in diameter). The wings failed to withstand the storms of 1910. They were not replaced when the tower was restored in 1953.
Guided group tours by appointment, and tasting of Domaine wines and fruit juices.
