Nestled in the heart of the Caladoise nave, the Maison des mémoires en Beaujolais is a great place to discover the historical and heritage treasures of 'Pays d'art et d'histoire' of Beaujolais.
It contains private archives and more than 300,000 old photographs from which exhibitions on major events and the daily life of the city are compiled. Thanks to its documentation centre which is open to all, visitors can learn about local history or deepen their knowledge.
It is an area open to the city and the population.
The Maison des mémoires en Beaujolais carries on the memory of Caladoise through its work of collecting and managing its archives. Its main mission is to enable the entire population to take ownership of its heritage and live by it.
Interpreting heritage
Each year, the Maison des mémoires en Beaujolais hosts a temporary exhibition in its premises to showcase the findings of the work undertaken on its archives.
Publications, leaflets, activities and information for young people are just some of the resources that the Maison des mémoires en Beaujolais has put in place to respond to the expectations of all types of audiences.
Le Musée des Conscrits©
Maison des mémoires en Beaujolais is home to the Musée des Conscrits©. The beginning and the progress of the exceptional heritage represented by the Fête des Conscrits© of Villefranche are exhibited so that visitors can better understand the attachment of the people of Caladois to this tradition.
